Is Fast Food the New Tobacco?

Is Fast Food the New Tobacco?

As we all know the purpose of Tobacco is to be a highly addictive substance that most consume. You can refer to fast food as the new tobacco, due to its addictive goodness we all are guilty of. The nutrition doesn't add up, terrible quality but what makes us want it badly, We consume fast food meals due to its quickness, affordability, and most importantly its taste. The reason society compares fast food and Tobacco under the same category is due to their addictive quality. When we crave fast food we go to a fast food chain and order a junk meal with poor nutrients. This example we can note as addiction.

Our Body won't function properly without balanced nutrition. A balanced nutrition helps us keep our bodies right and allows a healthy mindset. Poor nutrition like fast food brings us a negative mindset and makes us feel terrible after our cravings. Just like Tobacco! Fast Food doesn't even give a caution label or anything of that sort just like the article we read mentions “Fast-food companies are marketing to children a product with proven health hazards and no warning labels.” (Zinczenko 393). Zinczenko mentions that fast food companies are selling children's products with proven health hazards and no caution or any warnings. Both articles mention the similarity of how fast food is a no-go.

Obesity should remain a personal responsibility. We all take care of our own actions. We did it to ourselves so we should fix it. We decide what we put into our bodies and we should expect the outcome before doing anything. You would know what the right thing is just by knowing if it would harm you or not. On the other hand, for young kids who don't much better, I’d like to share this idea. According to the documentary it documents a point where fast food shows the negative effects and how they dealt with it. Fast food companies are selling children's products with proven health hazards and no caution or any warnings. The children love fast food and they are still developing. They need their nutrients. Giving the kids poor nutrients shouldn’t be unacceptable so why do fast food companies market a product to children and not mention that their production is not a good source of nutrients? This is completely wrong and no warning labels make it even more chaotic.

In Conclusion, My overall idea is that Tobacco and Fast food do, after all, contain the same feeling… The feeling of being addicted. Makes no sense to eat something but in the end leaves us feeling horrendous symptoms: sluggish, terrible, bloated, and even anxious. Think of what you put into your body. We all end up craving it and then just fall into the trap. Who is to blame here? The people who are definitely at fault are us. We all did it and were there. Of course, we did it to ourselves. A famous quote says you don’t learn until you face the problem. We all have faced a situation like that whether it be recently or in the past. Fast Food is the New Tobacco. The obesity issue remains a personal responsibility.
